Unhappy 2002 Dakota miss fire PLEASE HELP!!

Hello, and hoping for some assist in solving a continuing problem with my 2002 Dakota four door 2 wheel drive truck with the 4.7 Liter engine. The truck is at 185,000 miles.

The vehicle developed a skip and still has a skip. Miss fire codes indicated the #1 cylinder primary secondary. and Crank sensor.

Here is what has been done thus far:

Removed the plugs and installed new.
Removed the Injectors and cleaned,
Swapped coils around.
Installed crank sensor aftermarket.

Vehicle ran great for 24 hours then started consistent miss fire again.

Power Control Module PCM had always had a checksum error so was sent away, repaired and re programmed.
Did not correct the miss fire.

Replaced cam sensor aftermarket.

Had codes for miss fire on #1, 4, 6, 8 and have ABS wheel sensor code. Until I used torque to clear the codes.

Now have only wheel code and no miss fire codes, but still has miss fire.

Description: The engine starts with no problem initially, as it comes to temperature the miss seems more like a minute interruption in the whole engine electrical. When the rpm is raised, it is very steady, but this blip is on a very regular interval. At ever two seconds for some time and then changes again with same intervals.

Often it will return to idle with no problem, but with each glitch the rpm gets slower and slower until it quits. It restarts with no hesitation.

I have removed grounding wires and cleaned where possible. The battery voltage is a consistent 12 volts.

I have purchased a BAFX OBD2 DONGLE AND INSTALLED TORQUE PRO. for my android tablet.

Is anyone here familiar enough with this app to tell me if it is possible to actually record the spark graph and miss fire count and the injector profile.

Thanks in advance for all assistance.
Professorbob.

These trucks are notorious for not liking aftermarket sensors in critical locations.....

May wanna do a compression test.

Check the electrical connections at cylinder 1, sometimes a weak wire can create issues and make diagnosing difficult. Whatever it may be, it's isolated at cylinder 1. Check compression.

Default Update on my 2002 Dakota Skip "Still NO Joy"

Parts QUESTION: I am about to purchase an idle speed control motor for my 2002 Dodge Dakota 4 door truck with 4.7L engine. Does anyone here have access to the Dodge OEM part number for the Idle Air control valve on this year model and engine? Thanks

2002 Dodge Dakota SLT four door with automatic transmission and 4.7 liter engine. Last week I installed an OEM Cam Sensor, and OEM Crank Sensor, And an OEM Throttle Position sensor. The engine RUNS WORSE now than before I did the new installs. Before the truck engine would start with out any issue, would idle and ran strong smooth, except for the regular blip/skip.
This AM, I took the truck to a friend to have him check the codes and do a scan real time using a $2000.00 MAC Scan tool. He left me with the tool as he needed to completed work inside his shop. For more than an hour I went through the menus checking various items. . I used the scan tool to verify spark and fuel trim; and spark. No misfires detected.

The only codes still present are the P 1391 cam and crank intermittent signal loss,
AND, MAP sensor voltage high.

I just ordered both the MAP and the Idle Air Control motor from the web hoping this gets the repair I need. V

VEHICLE: Dodge Dakota SLT 4 Door with 4.7 engine and automatic transmission.

I have replaced the following: Spark Plugs, Coil on Plug coils, PVC Valve, OEM cam sensor, and OEM Crank sensor, Throttle positions sensor. Getting ready to install Mass Air Pressure and Idle Air Control Motor. Also sent the computer and had it repaired. Ran a compression check to fine #! and #2 had about 135 PSI and the remaining cylinder approx 150 PSI. Checked for intake manifold leak none found.
Pretty frustrated to say the least.
STILL NO JOY.

what you describe makes me somewhat question the ground system the throttle body sensors. A faulty/weak/broken ground would yield a high-level analog sensor return and likewise weakly pulsed cam/crank signals.

Default Dakota misfiree

Thanks for the suggestion regarding grounding sensor. I have just ordered a new MAP and Idle Air Control Sensor and will install the pieces first thing this coming week. I'll post results then . Thanks again for the input.

I'm not 100% sure what year of the 4.7 this applies to but the crank timing wheel/sprocket that's attached to the crank can shift on the crank changing the timing my understanding this happens if your engine over heats.

its rare but can happen on certain year 4.7 engines
