Default Clutch pedal not returning 2000 Sport

Hey all - what would cause my clutch pedal to stick and not want to return? It has been really hot, over 100° lately. Could heat cause that? Is there something I can grease or oil the pedal with? Thanks for the help, this really concerns me.

Could be a problem with either the master/slave cylinder OR a problem with the pressure plate itself. How's the fluid level?

I had a new clutch put in when the engine was rebuilt 9,000 miles ago. I haven’t even considered the variables. Not even sure where the fluid reservoir would be located.

It's along the firewall, a small rounded container near the brake booster. Made of that whitish plastic with a black lid - should be anyways.

Ah, okay - I'll go have a look.
The truck and clutch were fine for this morning's drive. This little 4 cyl was giving me grief yesterday afternoon with temps above 100°, AC blowing, stop and go traffic. It was really lugging AND lunging. Drove like it was only running on 1 cylinder - maybe it was just plain hot. The temp gauge was down below 12 o'clock. I checked the coolant last night and added maybe a half gallon. Just put good gas in it, just had the oil changed. But a couple of times I pushed the clutch in, it didn't come back up til I pushed it again and then almost launched my wife through the windshield!

Fluid level was just fine.
The clutch pedal does squeak quite often when pushed in.
I guess my next thing is to check the bushings in the pivot rod where the pedal mounts? Maybe some silicone lubricant would do the trick - probably couldn't hurt.

I agree, it sure wouldn't hurt.
