Default CODE READER port

I have looked all over the internet for the code reader port on my 1996 Dakota V-8 4WD. It is not on the left side by the emergency brake lever....or anywhere's under the dash that I can see. I have also looked in the engine compartment and do not see anything that looks like a code reader. The key dance does not work either. Any help would be deeply appreciated.

I see nothing to plug it into

Nothing that fits

I'm at work and the Security IT people lock out my looking at those type files. (Shh....don't tell my boss.) Put the codes in a message so we can see what they are without opening another screen. I'll tell you up front, you have OBD I not OBD II so there isn't a code reader per se. You will probably have code 12 which means the battery was disconnected in the last 50 to 100 key starts. You will also have code 55. That will always be there as it's the notification of the end of the test cycle. It's the codes in between that will tell you where to look for a problem.

That be the problem I cannot tell what the codes are flashing.... I've counted them and it's not clear to me what the numbers are.... I get 12 (I have changed the battery a month ago) I cycled the key 15 times to clear it. Then I think I get 13...but not really sure. That's what I posted on the video the lights flashing !!

12, 42, and I missed the last one.

42 is ASD relay or injector circuit problem.

Cycling the key won't clear a code. Disconnecting the battery will but that'll set code #12 again. Chrysler did it that way on purpose so you don't get in a rush. It's 50 to 100 key starts. Doing that really quick will either run the battery down or burn up the starter. You do need to wait until #55 shows up. It's annoying but compared to 10 years before, it was a vast improvement.
