Shift Cable at Transmission
Hi Everyone,
My '04 Dakota sat for a few months, went to shift it and I forced it too much and broke the cable up where it connects to the lever on the column. I found that its very hard to shift at the point where it meets the transmission. I sprayed it with PB Blaster so I was able to manually shift it but it's still pretty rigid, any idea how I can loosen it back up so it's smooth? It's impossible to see it from above. I ordered a new cable and what to be sure I fix the issue.
Thank you very much.

So that's a 545RFE I believe, should be same as the 4.7 and 5.7. Might be the 42RLE though. I'm honestly not sure.
Generally speaking, a rough/still selector usually leads to a valvebody issue with the rod which moves in and out based on the selector, an issue with the rooster comb and/or it's detent, or some of both.
Dropping the pan may give your first clue.
