Anyone with a Chrysler/Dodge/Ram/Jeep etc from 1996 1997 1998 1999 etc with the jtec style computer (the same ones in the '98 Dodge Dakota), there is a simple solution to the random rough idle and stalling issues. Remove the left torx screw on the PCM computer, add two washers and then replace the screw. Can do the same with the other side, but do them one at a time. The screw seems to be just long enough to eventually ground out a component inside the computer and cause the engine to stall out. Didn't believe it myself, but when I pressed on the screw there in the front the engine died and backing the screw out fixed the issue. On warm days or once the engine was warmed up, the thermal expansion must have been just enough to momentarily ground the component.
This applies to any 3-connector JTEC PCM. The 4-connector PCM may also be affected.
The 4.7 doesn't have the plenum leak issues that the pushrod engines have. If oil is disappearing without a trace, then it's exiting via the combustion chamber.
It self diagnosed a code 11 which is the crank/cam sensor but i just had it running and driving for damn near 30 min and it didnt shut off or stall once. Its def rough idle tho
Im gonna get both just bc but after hours of countless reading fourms they all say the same thing new pcm... I already know im gonna have way to much in this one then its worth.but itll have to do untill i go 1500 or bigger

That's a different approach. On 01+ it's easier to use a scanner to look at set/pending P-codes or use the keydance to get the set codes. Or use a network tool like MT2500 or DRB3 to scan all modules for U-codes.
Yea last nite i messed up and didnt wait for the codes to show but the dash showed the obvious 920 921 and 999 code but it stalled on me and i took the pcm off and stuck ice on it and it started right back up so yea new pcm
Its crazy cause when i used the scanner it shows nothing, even took it too the shop when it first started to stall a few days ago and they didnt see no codes either. Even now still no codes.
