Hi - sorry to resurrect an old thread but I have a 2003 2500 ram and getting sick of sockets chiming etc-

what do I need to complete an LED upgrade. I cant seem to filter out what ohms and things i need to order. some say 6ohm some say 0.1 - which is it?

thanks

Are you getting a "bulb out" on the dash VHIC display, or just the fast flashing signals?

I don't have a Ram FSM handy but I think they use the more common relay-looking flasher. I don't think the flashers were controlled by the Body Control Module/Central Timer Module until the model change in 09 (which is when the "Bulb out" VHIC message came around)

06 doesn't use these to my knowledge. I could be wrong.

I've ran short on combination flashers to modify here. I found what was left of my resistor stash yesterday but I haven't found any cores. Good reminder that I need to find a good day off from work to go junkyarding for hard to find parts for these trucks.

Default Ran into same problem

Glad to see some pertinent info on this subject. Thanks for the wisdom, even 5 years later, that's awesome. Better you think to mod the original or an aftermarket module or no difference? Could you link the resistor you found, also what wire did you use? I have 24g tinned copper wire I use for power tool battery packs, should I invest in better stuff?

I believe the second one is the one shown in the original photos. But both are 1/10 of an ohm (100 Milliohms) and will work for the application. The first one is just a bit smaller.
24 will be too small for a safety margin. I used 18. Have to keep in mind that worst case, 3 incandescent bulbs per side with flashers on will pass 9 amps through the wire and resistor. LED's as intended will be much less, but you always have to think worst case.
