Default 01 Dakota 2 mystery plugs.

So I was checking my oil and I noticed two connectors that were just lying on the side. I'm hoping someone can help me figure out what they are and where they are supposed to be plugged into. On comes out the harness below the computer closest to the radiator. Its quite short at only 8-10 inches. Its a small black plug with two wires coming in. It has a yellow rounded rectangle piece of plastic inside with two offset long ports. Kinda like a power socket. I couldn't find an empty plug nearby so I'm guessing it might be optional. The second comes from the harness from the bottom passenger side of the radiator. It is about 2 feet long and has a small black plug. The plastic looks clean on the inside of it unlike the other one so I believe this was from a ****ty job a mechanic who replaced my transmission did. Any idea's on what these could be or if they are just extra's for the different setups? Also there is a copper ribbon cable that corroded and broke. It looks like its a ground cable. Should I replace it? Everything seems to be running fine but I would like to be sure. Thanks in advance.

The first plug looks exactly like this https://www.rockauto.com/info/903/1P1311_2__ra_p.jpg

Can you post pics of the connectors and where they are on your truck?

It's entirely possible that they are for options that your truck just didn't come with. Does everything still work?

2-pin by PCM would be ambient temp sensor or washer fluid sensor.

18" 2-pin off the radiator sounds like fog lamp.

Everything still works as far as I have seen. The fog lamp on that side was removed by a previous owner so I bet you your correct on that one magnethead. My windshield washer fluid light does come on so I'm going to lean on it being an ambient temp sensor. I don't think the truck has one of those though. I mean that sounds like something that would make a code if it was missing. Thanks for the help guys. One more thing should I bother replacing that ground cable? Its one of the ones where their are two strips of copper mesh. Only one is broke and detached.

Sure wouldn't hurt anything to fix it.

The fog lamp would come off somewhere down at the bottom of the fender, I think the harness goes across the lower core support.

The ambient temp sensor is not used by the computer. It only is used for the overhead console display. If your truck has the dummy console, then it won't have the sensor. The sensor mounts right next to the washer fluid bottle, about opposite of the horns.
