Junkyard will be your best option. I'm not aware that the linkage changed with years but I could be wrong. I know V6 and V8 are different clips at the TB

Yup, thanks, I thought about that option too and then thought, sheeze trading a stretched cable for another potentially stretched cable.

And the year thing, doesn't make sense either, pretty sure the 98' cable will work, I'm going to order a new one and see if it fits, can't imaging a difference.

What makes you think the cable has stretched? There's very little tension to stretch it.

Not getting full throttle opening upon burring the peddle to the floor, figured a 22 year old cable had seen better days ....

Put some spacers on the cable on the gas pedal end, to take up some of the slack.

This. It's just an aircraft cable, you can get some crimp-ends to put on the end.

Is the cable routed properly on the throttle bracket?

Default My $1.95 fix

So here is what I found: The lower cable is the 1998 version, the cable on top is my original 1997. You will notice little round nosed crimped-on ferrels, the difference from nose to nose is about 0.900. This difference would not allow the throttle plates to fully close, can't use the 98' version cable.

What you don't see is the second crimped-on part under my thumb, this is where the problem is, it would appear this ferrel slipped rearward a good amount and this is why it will not get full open.

So I made my own custom stopper nut out of a long coupler 10-24 nut, I drilled and tapped two 8-32 holes, inserted the cable through the long nut and pinched the cable with two 8-32 set screws. Total cost: $1.95 and a few hours of engineering.

N
