When the tech support guys are being paid minimum wage..... you really can't expect a lot from 'em.

When I get the runaround like this, I cancel the charge on my card. When they don't have the money, they're usually more willing to solve my problem. And if they don't, it's not worth their while to take it to court especially when you have documentation to back up their refusal to provide or honor an advertised warranty. After cancelling the charge, call them up and advise them that you'll be glad to send them the money AFTER they resolve the problem, and see what they say.

Yeah, I talked to Discover card last night. They suggested I keep documenting my experience, but also keep working with them for now. They said if I can't get it resolved to call back.

A big WELCOME to the NY Attorney General's Consumer Fraud office to this thread! Feel free to sign up for an account here at dodgeforum and stay a while!

So I went ahead and filled a consumer fraud complaint on the NY Attorney General's site and gave them a link to this thread.

I started the chat this morning with that info and immediately got transferred (esclated to a manager, maybe?). Initially I was optomistic, but then she said I have to get the warranty registered before I can get an RMA form. This is odd, because I had gotten the impression they had a default super short (20 day?) warranty, and the registration was just to get the lifetime warranty. But that way I guess I'll know the lifetime warranty is really registered in their system and accepted.

She say's she'll check on it after our chat and I should have it by noon.

Ooooh discover. That's gonna chap their hides. If there's one CC company that is customer-centric...

Ok, so yesterday warranty docs/RMA were supposed to arrive by noon. Big shocker: docs didn't came.

This morning the priority was "help me understand why this is difficult" asking about the process, etc. I wasn't letting them off the hook when they told me they're on their way. They said their system is messed up, IT is working on it. But they did try to send the docs yesterday. So that's possible, but given the number of inaccurate things they've said, and some downright sleazy things, I doubt it.

They said they have other warranty papers being held up. I asked about payment processing, is that working? So they could process a refund so I can buy from someone else, right? Then they said all transactions have to have the warranty paperwork processed first.

I asked about if they stall until the window for warranty regsitration is past - will they say I'm out of luck and should have registered? She said not to worry.

Supposed to be resolved in a few hours.

During the chat I ask myself what needs to be in this transcript for when Discover Card reads it investigating my charge dispute. Then I work it into the conversation. Previously I called discover card for advice. I'll go another day or two then file the dispute online.

QUESTION for you guys: With P0601 I know that's an internal ECU error and it needs replaced. Should we be afraid to drive the truck right now, like its going to dump us at any minute? Or is reasonably safe to drive the drive the truck while we're working on getting the ECU replaced?

That one is luck of the draw..... Its a memory error, so, something in the programming is corrupted/unreadable. It may be something innocuous, and you could drive the truck for years without an issue... Or, it may be something a bit more important, and it will exhibit undesirable behavior at every opportunity...... or, it may just stop working altogether...

Are ya feelin' lucky?

I think I've hit my quota of bad luck on this one. Surely that means it has to be something minor.

Where the saga left off: Wednesday morning they said they were having IT issues that should be resolved within a couple hours and then would send me the warranty info.

Wednesday evening I contacted them again, they said the IT issues were resolved and I'd have the warranty info by the end of the day.

Drum roll please......... it didn't come

This morning I contacted them and asked for a refund. The guy said he couldn't do that, it requires an account manager. My account manager was "busy". So I have to wait on the account manager to get back to me. Today, or maybe tomorrow.

I'm assuming at this point this has gotten rediculous enough for Discover card to reverse the charge. I opened a dispute this morning. That could take 30 days. I'm just going to buy another elsewhere and assume I get my money back from scamship one.

So... Where should I buy my next ECU from? On the bright side, I now know for sure that my original ECU is the reason the alternator wouldn't charge (since the defective one fixed that).

Yeah, get your money back from them, and leave bad feedback for them on the BBB website.

So far, I haven't found a decent company for PCM's..... Might try the junkyard, see if it works, and if it does, just have it flashed to the correct VIN. (if necessary)
