Default Power Steering Pump Pulley Installation

I'm having a problem in getting the pulley installed. I got it about half way on using a bolt threaded into the shaft. It stripped out possibly because it was the wrong size or thread. What is the size and thread required? Also what is a good way of holding the pulley while installing? I got blisters trying to hold it and resorted to a pipe wrench!

Go to your local parts store, and rent the correct tool for installing/removing the pulley. But, if you smoked the threads in the inside of the shaft, that isn't going to help you......

It's 5/16 or 38, i forget which. Use the proper tool and it goes on super easy. Use the wrong tool, and you may have a bjorked pump.

I ran a tap through the shaft and got the rental kit from O'Reilly and finished putting the pulley on with no problem. I had a removal tool but didn't know there was an installation tool. Thanks for the info!
