Default Hvac question

I have a 03 dodge Dakota quad cab slt. When I switch the ac or heat on to dash or floor mode the air continues to come out the main defroster. The air comes out of the dash vents but also out of the defroster which robs the air flow from the dash vents located next the doors. The air flow from the middle dash vents remain the same. I was looking for some guidance on what could be the cause of the issue and how would I go about fixing the issue.

Need to have a look at the actuator for the defrost vents. Sounds like a linkage is broken/disconnected.

Thank you for getting back to me. I replaced the actuator and it’s still doing the same. The control setting for the fan speed doesn’t work on the lowest setting. Could it be the control panel for the ac/heat ?

Possibly. Electric, or vacuum operated actuators?

03 is strictly electric.
