1997 Dakota.....only have defrost vents working, it won't cycle to the dash. Research taels me its a potential vacuum line, upon inspection under the hook I found this line just dangling.
First question is can someone tell me where it goes and Second if this not related to air box what's my next steps.

Had posted incorrectly .... 2nd generation Dakota, where does the end of this vacuum line go?...Thanks in advance
That is definitely the HVAC box vacuum tap, and it will definitely be why you only have defrost. Automotive HVAC systems are set to default to defrost because a driver's ability to see overrides driver comfort. Unfortunately, not sure exactly where it goes other than it should be going through the firewall. Look for a rubber port similar in design to the one it's sticking in, within reach of that line going to the firewall, and I would start as close to the passenger side as the hose will reach because the airbox goes from the middle of the truck to the passenger wall. There may be a short length of plastic line sticking out of the target, and it may just be a rubber hose sticking out of a firewall grommet. I'd also go ahead and plan on replacing the rest of the line, because if that one broke the rest of them likely aren't far behind.
I’ve searched the firewall, still can’t seem to find were the line broke off. Assume it’s behind the distrbutor or maybe goes somewhere down into the transmission tunnel.
Anyone happen to have a location diagram that could narrow it down.
This link might help. If I had a 97 I'd just go look, but mine's a 2003 with electric actuators. I wouldn't have thought so, but there's a picture showing this running down the back of the engine, and it can be dislodged by working on the distributor.
