Question Change Odometer from Miles to Kms - 2000 Dak 4.7L

Disclaimer: I am trying to help a friend out, and I know nothing about his truck or its onboard systems, hence any naivety in my question...

He has a US built 2000 Dodge Dakota, 4.7L whose odometer is in miles. He lives in Canada. Is it possible to program the control/computer system to switch the odometer to read in kilometres? Thank you in advance for any help.

I think you need a cluster for canada vehicles, however, that might not be the only change that needs to happen.....

Thank you HeyYou for your quick reply. I think he wants to maintain the integrity of the odometer readings. I guess changing the instrument cluster would result in loss of his current readings?

yes. odometer is stored in the cluster.

US and CAN clusters are different in both the speedometer and odometer.

Thank you MagnetHead for your reply. I have been over to my neighbour and passed both comments on to him. He said to say thank you to both you and HeyYou.
