Default Tow cap....

my dak has a 4.7, manual trans and 4x4.
tow capacity is rated somewhere round 5200lbs.
I was wondering if it is possible to raise this cap. Thru some basic upgrades to get 6k or a lil better without issue.
i want to get a slightly better camper for winter weather and they seem just out of reach for 25 to 30 feet.

Buy a bigger truck. You cannot increase your tow rating, regardless of what you do. You could toss 3/4 ton solid axle suspension under it, and it would still only be rated for the manufacturer stated. Its a legal thing.... If you want to haul something heavier, buy something rated for the kind of weight you want to pull.

Let's put it this way.

My truck is a 2001 with 3.9 auto 2WD.

Our BASIC flat bed car hauler, double axle. Towing it was not a problem (aside of getting up to speed). the problem was stopping. Even just the basic trailer for what it was, would shove my truck right on through the brakes. It was touchy approaching intersections.
