Question Power window problem

Just noticed that my power windows (2004 Dakota crew cab) only work from the drivers door switches. Passenger front and both rear windows do not work from their door switches. Is the lockout switch defective? Or something more sinister?

It's probably the lockout. Try cycling it a few times on/off and see if things change.

It's a fairly common problem.

Thanks, I tried your suggestion but no luck. I assume that the entire master switch will have to be replaced as it doesn’t look like the individual switches can be replaced. Any one know which contacts lead to the lockout so that I can check for continuity? Or maybe a wiring diagram for the door harness?

I've been told it's the large yellow wire (2002 Dakota) on the underside plug. Mine's intermittent. You can usually just pop the window control panel out (spring pressure body clips, no screws) and wiggle it around. It'll usually work fine at this point but for some reason gets tweaked just enough when installed.

Should be pins 8 and 9 if like an '02. It would be ping 9, a 14 gauge yellow wire, for the output to the other windows. The input to the master window module is pin 8, a 14 gauge tan wire.

As they said - pop the switch panel out of the door, and it will probably work. My driver's switch doesnt even work without pulling the switch panel out.

Just bad connections that get tweaked over time

Yea it's a common problem with that lock button -the contacts corrode.
Sometimes the wiring harness can factor it also ,as it did on mine.
Try another one ,with a new wiring harness .

I did all that playing around. I'd get it to work, then eventually it would stop working again. Here is the easy solution which resolved all my problems years ago.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00B62PBKK/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00B62PBKK/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Look at the price and decide whether it's worth wasting time.

So the power windows are controlled standalone by the switch and not the BCM? Excellent, I think I'll use one of these switched on my own truck. I've got an idea about using Caravan rear wing window motors to run the rear wings on my ext cab.
