So then he scammed me! Probably only replaced the tensioners and oil pan to make it look like he did the work.
yes is is a legit shop. He's almost always got a dodge of some sort in there, also does work on a lot of big riggs.
guess I gotta do more than just pick up my "old parts" tomorrow that are probably going to be from a different truck. Also gotta get my money back!

Ok after looking into it more the covers were removed, I was thrown off by the way some of the bolts look like nuts that should skrewed off. So my bad false alarm. I guess I'm not used to taking my vehicle to a shop and feel whenever I do that they're out to get me. But the truck is running nice. No sounds to be herd except my leaky exhaust that I plan on replacing this weekend. Ahhhh I hate paying for stuff lol

How do you know he didn't pull the valve covers off?

10 hours seems short for doing all 3 chains and the oil pump. What's the shop hourly charge, $120?

It's just a hunch that he didn't pull them off because it's still all dirty around them and you would thing he would clean it up and use new gaskets and maybe even a couple new valve cover bolts when putting them back on. ( I mean what is that compared to a new oil pump and pan it didn't really even need) Not to mention after driving it for a few days I'm noticing the timing chain slag noise again. Hourly rate is 85.

Is it possible they changed only the guides and tensioners? Are chains and/or gears itemized on the WO?

I would take it back to him. You spent a HUGE pile of money to make that noise go away, and it didn't.

That's my suspicion is that maybe he only changed the guides when I paid for everything. The noise is less but not gone and still appears to be the timing. I picked up my old parts, they were all there so either he gave me someone elses old chains and gears, ****ed something up, or the noise I'm hearing is from lifters or something else..

Either way something here smells and feels fishy
