Default Ownership update & the big switch

Happy Sunday Guys & Gals, hope your health & dreams are doing well. Thought I would update everyone about the wait for my title.
The legal owner of the truck has applied for a replacement title from the state. I am told expect a 2 week waiting period, we are half way there at this point... I hate waiting LOL. I have been educating myself to the world of Dakota platform and 4.7L technology. It is pretty clear there isn't a whole lot in way of aftermarket parts available for the engine.
I have been thinking about what I would really like to do with my truck as I move forward. I would like to have a 5.7L hemi drop into my life as they are kind of a drop in in regards to trans fits, wire harnesses and some pretty slick offerings of mounts and headers. The advantages are much better in terms to tuneability and parts availability as well. Admittedly I am not looking for a hot rod truck as I am looking to simply make it my own. Soooooo......
I have been kicking around a 5.9L swap. Its more old school which I am familiar with and in terms of engine part availability and options it seems to make sense. (not to say I will at this point but options are there.)
Has anyone been involved in a 2nd generation/360 4x2 swap? Any links to share?

TIA

If you currently have the 4.7, going to the 5.7 would be easier than the 5.9.....

I keep an eye on these guys. They repackage drivetrain takeouts for projects and include everything needed to make it work. They even send the gauges, pedals, rear diff and gas tank if it wasn't damaged in the wreck. They have a 2016 Challenger 6.4 with an 8 speed auto coming up, or a 2010 Challenger 6.1 if you want a 6 speed manual, but no Dodge engines ready to go right this minute. I've seen prices anywhere from 7 grand to 30 grand depending on age and condition. I've never used them before, but I've been thinking about grabbing a Chevy 3.6L V6 with an 8 speed for my Colorado since that's just a work truck. Found them when researching engine combo possibilities for my 2003 Dakota.

You are correct. I would prefer a 5.7 actually, if I went with a last choice 5.9 it would be a radical change to a carbed 727 driven truck.

Greg Snider bought a hellcat setup and put it in his dakota with a T-56.

He's traction limited now.

I have yet to own a 4.7 anything. When I went shopping for a replacement for my wife's square body Cherokee I passed up quite a few "nice looking" Durangos because they were 4.7 powered. I wound up with an 01 that has a 360 in it, still have that Durango.
