Default Hubs And Bearings

I watched a video on how to replace the hubs on these trucks. I've never replaced hubs and wanted people's input on what grease you use when putting the new hub onto the spindle?

What year truck? 2 or 4 wheel drive? Does your truck use the unit-bearings?? or the rebuildable fellers?

2000 Dakota 2WD, i bought new hubs with the bearings already pressed in. I was wondering what people put on the spindle for grease when putting it back together?

Just a good quality disc brake grease. Although I'm pretty sure all the grease is rated for disc brakes anymore. The rotors should have the races pressed in but you still have to pack the bearings. I've got a bearing packer to use with a grease gun but I usually still pack it by hand.

Those should be unit bearings. So, no grease is really required. Can use a bit on the spindle to make changing them easier.....

Yeah, no grease required. Quoting myself from when I changed mine 5 years ago...

I ended up getting the Timken HA599528 wheel bearing hubs. I also caught a steal on front and rear EBC USR slotted rotors on Amazon. Installed them all this past weekend and the change is remarkable. Changing the hubs was very easy as I didn't have to deal with front axle shafts (2WD). One big axle nut (36 mm) and off they came. No cotter pin, no nothing. Torque was 185 ft-lbs. The noise is completely gone as is the weird tracking I would get during sweeping turns. Both old bearings were dry as chip, when spun by hand.
