Hi all. I recently joined because I picked up a '04 QuadCab 2WD and she needs some help...and $$ lol
She's got the V-6/auto. When she's running, you don't need to spray for mosquitoes.
We have a '79 Magnum 360 4-bbl/auto that runs...no title.
I'm lazy, and don't have a lot of time. And I've been away from the game since '00.
I want to drop the drivetrain from the Magnum in the Dak. I want to keep the carb, P/S, AC.
I've been told that I needed to do a 5.9 Magnum instead of the LA. I do have a 5.9 shortblock, but it'll probably need rebuilt.
The money tree that we planted in the back of the house has died without bearing any fruit. .
I haven't had a 'Hot Rod' since '99, and the bell curve is getting shorter.
Thanks for letting me join.

Problem is, EVERYTHING in the cab is driven/controlled by the computer. You can't eliminate it, without essentially rebuilding the entire electrical system...... A project that does not align with 'lazy' very well at all.

A lot of the LA and Magnum engines is shared. Then again, a lot of the our DNA and that of Chimpanzees is shared. It's those little details that make the difference. There is so much different, you're looking a prohibitive cost to swap it in. Find a wrecked truck and swap engines. That would be the easiest to do. Both in labor and cost.

You'll need engine mount adapters from HiPoTek to go from the LA mounting ears to the Magnum 'Saddles'. But as mentioned, you'll have no dash after the swap.
