Default 2001 Fuel Lines

2001 Dakota extended cab, 4.7L, auto transmission. I'm trying to replace the front fuel line that split right before the fuel rail and they appear to be discontinued. I can't find any information related to what people do at this point. Surely people aren't junking the entire truck for a fuel line. I've seen online that people are making lines out of nylon for other makes, but would this work on a high-pressure system? I would like to not catch on fire and am out of options. Aside from hitting a junkyard and trying my luck with another old line, does anyone have any recommendations on what to do next?

Thanks in advance!

Can you post a pic of the line in question? I know parts store sometimes carry a 'repair kit' for some of them.

I'm at work atm, I will later tonight. It comes right off the fuel rail and goes behind the block. The braided mesh is what is leaking just past where it connects the fuel rail connection.

I'd happily use a junkyard line over one that's been repaired.

It's busted just past the 90 bend on the nylon mesh

Yep, there are repair kits for those. It's a cut and splice deal though... So, not my favorite fix. How does the line connect on the other end, and how long is it?

Same kind of OEM quick connect at the frame, right by the transmission linkage IIRC.

They're not bad to unclip, and it's a common fitting type (5/16 flare quick connect). You could actually go flare adapter > AN hose > flare adapter if you wanted to. I dont know that Fragola or XRP make hose ends with OEM flare.

Yeah I think it connects behind the engine block which I cant see, but I can feel it. I'm going to try and get the tool at Harbor freight and take the hose off. I'll see if NAPA can build me one, or if I have to go to this high-pressure hydraulics and hoses place nearby.

Thanks for the reply, this one little hose has turned into quite the adventure xD

Just a fair warning, the fuel pump has a check valve to keep the line full of fuel. So make sure exhaust is cold and you're not near the hose when you unclip it, lest you get a gasoline bath or worse.

While under the truck, if you look about halfway back on the bellhousing, straight above the shifter linkage, you should see the coupling next to the transmission and oxygen sensor harness.

Hey so I got the hose off. 5/16" flare quick connect just like you said. I googled AN hose and am a little unsure about the flare adapter part of it. I think you're onto something though!

Any additional links would be great, but I really appreciate the help!
