Default Rear differential questions .

04 Dakota quad, V8, 4x4, 9.25" w/ limited slip
looking at new spider gears they seem to not come with the "clutch plates" maybe they are just not pictured ? If you have replaced the spider gears - did you reuse the plates ? Also, can I replace the spider gears with non - limited slip gears in the 9.25 housing ? Thanks.

You need gears for the limited slip diff. No, they don't come with the clutches, but, you can order them separately, and if you are in there anyway...... really not a bad idea to change them.

Thanks, I had one of the clutch plates clips come apart and cause mayhem. I guess my question is if I don't care about the limited slip aspect, it's just a dump run truck, can I put in non-limited slip spider gears into the housing and be done with it. Or is there going to be a ratio / fit problem.

I think the gears are physically different, and either won't fit at all, or won't work properly. If it's just a 'dump' truck, score some gears from your local pick and pull, if you go this route, get all four gears. (matching set.) The clutches and clips are fairly cheap though..... and sometimes, going to the dump, I needed 4x4 to get out.... and I also have a limited slip rear.
