Default Steering column problem causing door alarm to ring continuously

The steering column in my 2003 Dakota has been rough since I have owned it. Something finally broke and you no longer have to move the wheel back and forth to get the key to unlock. ( problem solved…. Right ), Now the door ajar dinger rings continuously. Even when parked in garage. I plan to get it fixed asap but is there a way to silence it till then? I worked in my garage all day and it rang all day.

Do you have a tilt column? It's somewhat common for the wiring to get worn and cause either a break or short in the harness.
There is a key-in sense circuit tied into the ignition switch connector. Not positive on your '03, but in '01 it was pin 8, 18 gauge light blue.
