Well, I’m stumped.

1) All the valves/springs open and close.
2) None of the lifters collapse when I push on them (this is with cam lobe facing skyward and spring not compressed)
3) nothing is loose.
4) new timing chain tensioners
5) no timing chain guides were fubared. All in tact from what I could feel and see.
6) chain tension is fine.

is there anything in the air plenum that could flock or tap? I’ll grab my friends borascope and check the cylinders to see if anything is rattling around…

not sure where to look next? Run it with the covers off?

Listened to your original vid again, and that is definitely valve train noise...... At first I though maybe exhaust leak.... but, nope. How much are a set of lifters?

They’re about $250 shipped from rock auto. Melting lifters.

Ouch, not cheap for an experiment....... I wish I could definitively say "That will fix it." But, I can't.....

I appreciate it, I’ve found another site more local to me… 16 for 100 bucks. Pulled the trigger on a set.

it may be the opposite of collapsed and it could be seized instead… I’ve stumbled on a few videos of the 4.7 having the same issue. 🤷‍♂️

Well I did pull a few lifters out for kicks and they were both locked solid. Couldn’t squeeze em with my fingers or with a pair of channel locks. It was only until I put them in a vice that it compressed and would not return.

it’s so strange, the whole truck has been running so well with oil changes and suddenly all these lifters seize?

Odd and strange things happen in the engine..... I have given up on trying to discern the 'why' of it. Just fix the problems I find.

I'm surprised you didn't see rockers ejected. That's what happened when 1 of my lifters froze.
