i think it’s because I turned it off and towed it home the minute it started making the racket. I’m sure had I driven it around, it woulda happened for sure.

I just hope this is the fix

Usually when it makes that racket, the rocker has already ejected. Also engine would be running like sh*t and spitting misfire codes. The fact that you have everything still intact is puzzling. Unwisely, I drove mine home from work 20 miles that way. Lucky for me, the rocker sat where it lay and didn't cause any damage.

Did you look at the valves when they are NOT COMPRESSED? If you see one is lower than the others it may be a dropped valve seat.

Yeah I’ve turned the engine over and checked each valve compressed and not compressed. Each valve is where it needs to be and the rocker is tight whether it’s compressed or not compressed.

it’s totally bizarre… I am hoping frozen lifters is what caused all the noise. If you listen to the first video, it just sounds like something is hitting something… and near the end, when I revved it… sounds like a baseball card in a tire spoke

When I first started the engine after replacing all mine, the racket was so bad, I thought it was all over. Took a few minutes before they primed up and it returned to sounding like an engine again.

Good to know! Do I match the hole in the side of the lifter to the oil valley in the cylinder head or is there enough space for oil to feed in

Install 'em with the hole facing the same direction as the lifter you pulled out.

👍 I’ve been told to soak em in oil before installing

I've never seen anyone pay attention to the orientation. Just drop them in. Oil pressure takes care of the rest.
