Torsion removal
Trying to help my son with a torsion bar replacement on a 2002 dodge dakota sxt 4x4 3.9 v6 on the driver , looks like i could possibly tap it out if i lower the key and lightly pry down on rear and tap out from front, am i correct on this or do i need to pull the lower control arm
thanks in advance

You shouldn't need to remove the control arm but you do need to let the suspension hang loose.
Loosen the adjuster to remove any load and remove it from the swivel. Then remove the torsion bar and it's mount.
Count the turns as you remove tension.

I haven't crawled under my Dakota ('99 Sport Ext Cab 4X4) to look, but I suspect its similar to my '70 Road Runner. There will also likely be a torsion bar retaining clip located at the rear making sure the torsion bar stays in place.
Again, keep in mind that I'm basing my ASSUMPTION on tinkering with a car that was built almost 30 years earlier.
