Default Belt tensioner question

2002 Dodge Dakota SLT v6 engine. The belt tensioner pulley on my Dakota is locked down and the belt is just sliding over the pulley. In looking up the part to replace the pulley, there is a ribbed pulley and a smooth pulley listed. My old one is so bad I don't know which is correct or even if it makes a difference. The ribbed part of the belt touches the pulley, so does it matter if the new pulley is smooth or not. Any suggestions appreciated.

If the ribbed part of the belt is on the pulley, use the ribbed pulley.
