Dakota 4.7 Fuel Rail
Hello All,
New here. First post.
I was getting ready to replace the fuel injectors on my 2002 Dodge Dakota 4.7. As I was dismantling the air cleaner and such, I noticed the crossover tube (aluminum tube not a hose) going between the fuel rails was loose.
I can wiggle it about 1/4". Seeing as it is a factory crimp set up, there is now way to tighten it. Is this normal? The rails are still bolted down and don't move. I stopped the process until I know if I need to look into a new fuel rail which seem to be discontinued.
Thanks for the help.
Mark

Well, it doesn't appear to leak..... probably just crimped in place, but, o-rings do the actual sealing. Do what you need to, but, once its all back together, cycle the key several times to build pressure in the rail, and verify that it does NOT leak.
Thanks Hey You.
I hadn't started the truck in a week so I hadn't seen signs of leaking or past signs of leaking. I wasn't really thinking of looking there as I know I have injector issues.
For the past few months, I've had the smell of fuel for a few minutes when I start it up. I started the truck and wiggled the tube and it showed no signs of leaking but did smell the fuel again. It's hard to believe that it can move that much and not leak. With that, I will continue on leaving the fuel rails alone for the time being. Once again, Thanks
