Ive bought the cheap hoses once before for my evap canister that were Dorman for my 2003 Dakota and they cracked in no time. Where do I fine the OEM hoses for my truck? Im finding the part number for the 2 hoses is 5166499AA but on every mopar type site I go to shows it doesnt fit my truck. Im not sure if I have the SLT, Sport, Club, RT, Regular or whatever it is. My tailgate says SXT on it and its a 3.9L V6. Its 2 door and I dont think it has an extended bed. On all these sites ive tried, none of them will accept my VIN (I triple checked it with the one thru the windshield and the registration to be sure) so when I try the different 2003 dakota's on their list, they all say "this part wont fit your vehicle" (referring to part number 5166499AA). Im not sure if I have the wrong number or what, plus my evap has 3 hoses on it instead of 2. Any help would be great either with a link to OEM or size of the hoses so I could just buy fuel line and make my own or anything like that

A lot of the vin checkers are case sensitive, and want all caps. I know the FCA (stellantis? Whatever) site is picky about that. Find out exactly what your truck is, and that should help. Given the age though, I would be surprised if OEM mopar hoses were still available.

 

I had everything in caps but the only thing I questioned was whether it was the letter 'o' or a zero ...i tried both and it wasnt found...lol

 

I don't think the letter is used..... just to avoid possible confusion. Try it on the FCA site I linked. See what happens.

You need fuel-rated hose for the EVAP system since it contains fuel vapors. It usually has a green stripe down the side and is 3x the price of regular vacuum hose.

 

Junkyards/u-pull-its are a great place to save money and find OEM hose. Bring a sharp knife and go to town. Doesn't have to be your model or even same make. Just make sure it's fuel rated, right size and the angle is doable. I had that code intermittently for years. Replacing cracked hoses greatly improved things but the final fix was a leak detection pump, which I scored from a PT-Cruiser. That was many years back and codes are a thing of the past.
