Default Fan Shroud

2002 R/T tends to run hot. Fans are working, radiator seems full, but no fan shroud. Anyone know where I can find one?

Junk yard...... Try Car-Part.com. If you find a yard that has what you are looking for, CALL them. Don't bother with the 'electronic contact', it seldom works.

A salvage yard is your best bet. Make sure you get one for a V-8 as the 6 banger will be too long to fit under your hood. The lack of a shroud will definitely cause over heating anywhere except for on the highway. Without it, the air will just roll around and not really get through the radiator itself. A Ram isn't all that much larger but I don't know if a shroud from a V-6 Ram will fit. The yard may be able to tell you if it will interchange. If so, more V-8's went into Rams than Dakotas. The chances of finding a good one are better.

On the v8, the tank assembly is the shroud. a V6 has an extension that attaches to the tank/shroud piece. If you have the tanks, then you have the shroud and aren't actually missing anything.

Does the R/T (5.9) have the washer tank combo setup? Not sure.... OP, go on a Mopar parts site that allows parts lookups by VIN (most do) and post the part #, even if it's not in stock.

My 5.9 has the dual tank shroud. It is only an SLT through. Make sure you get yourself some new square nuts and bolts to mount them. They are pretty much always cross-threaded from the factory.

yea, all from 01+ are the same PN for all engines. The 3.9 and 3.7's have shroud extensions that attach to the universal dual-tank shroud.

My 2000 3.9 V6 has the additional extension and runs hotter without it.

If that's the case, that should be an easy junkyard find.

Shrouds both protect you from sticking your hand in the fan but also keep air flowing. Without the shroud, air will roll around the fan blade and not across the radiator. Unless you're moving at a good clip, it won't cool much.
