Default Suspension Rebuild

I'm pretty much a beginner to lower mid with auto repair...but I'm working to rebuild the front suspension on my 1997 5.2 SLT RWD and I need advice. In looking for control arms, I can find RWD lower arms all over the place, but the only upper control arms I can find are for 4WD. Are these compatible with my truck?

My part list is:
  • Upper and lower control arms and ball joints
  • Outer and Inner tie rods
  • Sway bar links
  • Shocks

What else am I missing?

Oh and I was told I need a ball joint separator / pickle fork. What size do I need?

You may be able to just change the ball joints in the uppers, bushings as well, if you need to.

Most auto parts stores will 'rent' you what you need. Pickle fork, ball joint press, etc. You get your money back when you return the tools.

If you do need the arms you should check out Ebay. Still plenty on there. There isn't much to those arms though so unless they are really rusty or bent I would just replace the bushings and joint and call it good. Save yourself some money.

They look like they are in good shape. I would guess then same goes for the upper arms?
