The Feul gauge on the dash says quarter of a tank... I think this weekend I'm going to add some fresh gas and see how it helps.

Ok, I tried having the charger running while idling. I put some fresh gas in it. Exhaust doesn't seem clogged (started it on a cold day and saw normal condensation coming from the tail pipe). Nothing helped. Gas light is on although I know there's at least a quarter tank... One time the gas gauge showed over a quarter tank and the other time I tried to keep it running, the gauge was on E... Not sure what that means. IDK what's going on...

Need to validate this statement. If the fuel pump is shutting off or failing internally, nothing you do will band-aid a lack of fuel....

Not sure how to test this... I hear the faint "whirring" for a second when I turn the key. Sounds like it's coming on. How else do I test it?

Put a pressure gauge on the fuel rail. There is a convenient schrader valve for just such an occasion. If you don't have one, you can rent one from your local parts store.

Try the cheapest fix first! Go in the under-hood fuse box and try swapping out the fuel pump relay with another. There are many identical relays, I suggest the trailer relay, if you have that. If that's the issue (it was for me and I was convinced that my pump was a goner based on mileage alone), then just replace the relay.

I'm absolutely going to try this! Cheap and easy first, no doubt.
