Default Reverse trigger

New to this forum, lurking since October to get the lay of the land and learn as much as I could before posting. Made an introduction in the new members area and this is my first tech question post (there will likely be many more).

2001 5.9L SLT Quad Cab 4x4.

I'm installing a new audio system with a back up camera and the Crutchfield instructions say to connect one of the wires on the head unit to the reverse trigger at the 24 pin connector on the fuse box under the hood.

Is there anywhere in the cab or somewhere easier to pick up that signal? I'm not super excited about messing around with that connector since it seems to be a pretty critical part of the electrical system. I know I could tap into the reverse light circuit. Just don't know where to do that other than at the lights themselves and would rather make a connection closer to the dash - ideally at a connector where I could tie directly into an existing pin rather than cutting and splicing.

I don't think the reverse light circuit comes into the cab anywhere...... Have a look here, check out the wiring diagrams, should give you an idea of where to tap.

They do go into the cab, They feed the automatic day/night mirror if you have one.
Can you access the back of the junction (fuse) block by the drivers door?

Check the attachment.
