well I went and got gas again today (first time since my last post about this problem) and it kicked the nozzle off again like it was full when I was down to 1/4 tank. I pulled the nozzle out and there was gas sitting in the filler neck that slowly went down like a partially plugged sink drain. I tried it again and it did the same thing and looked in there and there was gas sitting in the filler neck again that slowly went down. I put it back in and set the nozzle to about half speed and it went in just fine so I dont know if theres an air pocket in the filler neck thats making it go slow or the pump is putting so much out that the filler neck cant take it in that fast. The rubber hose that goes between the filler neck and the tank isnt collapsed and I can squeeze the entire length of the hose and I dont fell anything stuck in the hose and looking down the filler neck to the tank with a flash light, its clear all the way to the bend of the neck just before it gets to the hose so I dont know whats causing this.

I would more suspect there was a blockage in the filler. Pull it, have a look, see what ya find.

Im going to after I get another hose that goes from the filler neck to the tank. Autozone doesnt have any in stock around here so Il going to get it from rock auto. Im going to wait till the gas goes down in the tank so I dont spill a bunch of it. Im wondering if the flap came off and is lodged in the pipe and when the pump is going full pressure, it closing the pipe sorta like a butterfly on a carburetor closes when choked.

Some of 'em have a check ball in there, to keep folks from siphoning your gas...... I would guess that if its in the wrong spot, it won't let gas go IN either......

Running the tank down to about half or so sounds like a winning idea to me.

Im guessing the check ball is in the filler neck and not at the tank where the rubber tube connects to the tank? Is it possible for the check ball to come loose/off and go down the pipe? I ran a 3/4" clear tube down the filler neck and it went through the filler neck and the rubber hose that connects the filler neck to the tank and stopped where the hose meets the tank. Its not affecting the way the truck runs at all but I dont want to get to the point that I cant get any gas at all to the tank no matter how fast or slow i pump it...lol

Anything is possible. Gonna have to pull it apart and have a look.

well I went and pulled the hose off between the filler neck and the tank. There wasnt anything in the filler neck or the hose but after i got the hose off, I was able to stick my finger into the tank and there was something stopping it. I took a couple pics and it looks like a trap door but it was too tight for me to push open with my finger cause I could barely touch it but using a 3/8 socket extension, I was able to push it open the door with a bit of force. I dont think its something lodged in the tank cause the 'trap door' thing is larger than the filler neck so I cant see it falling down the neck and getting lodged into the tank entry. Im not sure whats making it stick but if a gas pump is having a hard time forcing it open with the pressure it has, Id bet it would be almost impossible to put gas into it from a can ...lol
