P0358 trouble code
2001 Dakota 4.7
p0358 I have tested the pulse wiring from the pcm to the coil and have no signal, truck starts and runs but no fire on coil 8. Has 12v for 3 second when you turn the key on from the asd relay but still no fire on 8. We’ve swapped connectors. Backprobed the pcm signal wire to run our own wire. We’ve tried a different coil. Did a continuity test and got 0 resistance between the pcm and coil. Can’t think of anything else, truck was running fine until I had to replace an oil pump. Got it done and now I got one cylinder not firing at all. Also new plugs
When doing the oil pump I did NOT remove the pan, I was able to pull the pump out of the front off the crankshaft so no wires would be pinched.
before this I had to put a motor in it. Drove it for a week and then the oil pump went out. Now it starts and runs great except it’s got a miss on cylinder 8.

PCM controls the ground side of the circuit to fire the coil. You'll get voltage at the coil for three seconds at initial key on, after that, only if the PCM sees the engine turning.
You have tested pretty much everything I would suggest.... Only other thing I could think to try, is use a test light, hooked to 12 volt source, poke it into the ground side of the coil connector, and crank the engine. The light should pulse..... if it doesn't, bad PCM.
