Default Factory Suspension Tire options

I dont have a dakota (yet) but i will within the next few months. A buddy of mine is giving me a set of 16" American racing rims that came off of a Dakota. He was gonna put them on his truck but he flipped it before he could get the tires/lift he wanted. Im really not concerned with having 4x4 all though i wouldnt mind it, im happy with 4x2. But i want to spice up the looks a little with these wheels and some decent looking all terrains. Id like to leave the suspension/ride height as stock as possible. my question is, can i put 31" BFG all terrains on a stock 4x2 if i twist the torsion up about 2inches?? if not, how about with a 3" body lift and the torsion twist? would i still need some trimming? if that still isnt gonna cut it, what will for some 31's?
thanks in advance for the help

I have 31's on my Dak stock from the factory so you shouldn't have a problem. If you do the 3in BL you'll be able to put 33's on it.

right now, w/ the torsions cranked I have Michelin LTXs and they are 275s, and according to there specs they are a 32 inch tire. No rubbing too.

2wds sit lower, and I've got about an inch of clearance with my 31s on my 4x4 qc at stock height - a 2wd might not be able to clear the 31 without cranking the torsion bars or a lift.

exactly what i was thinking, the 2wd sits a lil lower. if i crank the torsion up you think 31's will clear safely?

I might be wrong, but don't the 2wd Dak's have coil over springs?
