Hey guys. Which headers should I get for my truck? I want shorty headers that bolt up in the stock location and I want a combination of good sound & noticeable torque gains.

I've narrowed it down to the following 3:
1- Edelbrock is probably a safe bet, and of all brands they make the most affordable ceramic header. ($359.00)
2- FlowTech is another good brand that is reasonably priced. They're ugly, but frankly whos gonna see em? ($189.99)
3- Gibson is supposed to be a good brand, and their headers are beautiful, but I had a Gibson cat-back on my truck and hated it. ($376.99)

All prices above are based on Jeg's current catalog and are just listed for sake of comparison.
So let me know what you think!

Thanks in advance! -Josh

The edelbrocks have a 2" collector. Had I known that, I would have looked around more. They bolt up to the stock Y pipe very well though. I wish I'd done alittle more research. But on the flipside, they come with awesome gaskets and good hardware, so that's something to consider.

RE: Please help me choose headers!
Its something to think about alright, thanks for the imput Horatio. If I may ask, how do the Edelbrocks sound? Do they give good power gains? And how can I find out what sized collectors come on other brands of headers? Their websites dont say...

I would think Edelbrock ... www.Summit.Click-Clik.com ... 'Tri-Tech' Ceramic, 2.5 collector, $310 ... Those are the ones I've been looking at.

Keep us Posted, and good luck

Mud pyro - it says 2.5" collector, but the ones I bolted up definately were not 2.5". Maybe the O.D. of the donut gasket was 2.5", but the pipe was definately 2".

RE: Please help me choose headers!
Strange... how long ago did you buy yours? Its unlikely but perhaps they redesigned them? Otherwise it may be some kind of misleading crap like you mentioned...

RE: Please help me choose headers!
Bought earlier this month. They were the retail therapy for getting out of a ~2 year relationship, and I should have done more research. I should contact Summit and see what they have to say.

Muy - Not your fault man, Summit's got the collector size for both the ti-tech and the ceramic (I got ceramic) listed as 2.5"

RE: Please help me choose headers!
So are the Ti-Techs and the Ceramics different sizes? I wouldnt think so, it should be the same header with a different finish... but you never know. Perhaps Summit's information is inaccurate for both.

Quote:
There is no problem with a smaller collector on the Shorty headers, for a cars or trucks with a full exhaust, the key is how it flows out of the head.
So sayeth Greg from Edelbrock.

I would wager that Summit got it wrong.
