Default 3.9 magnum exhaust

Hey Guys. Sorry I post so many questions, but I am new and have found that you all know a lot more about trucks then i ever will. I was wondering if there was a cheap way to make my 3.9 v6 magnum exhaust any louder on my 99 dakota sport. its a 4x4 stick shift, and has a lot of miles on it, which is why i dont want to put much money into it. It has a nice sound right now, but i wish it were a little louder. Thanx for any comments or advice guys! I could really use the help.

You could have a muffler shop install a Flowmaster or Aero-turbine muffler .

Go straight pipe instead of an exhaust?

On my last Dakota I had a 2003 3.9L and had them just cut off the stock muffler and install a Flowmaster 40 and chrome tip out the side it was much louder and was $155.00 out the door installed

I second the Flowmaster 40. It's not screaming loud, but it is a nice low rumble. Once you hit 3000RPM's though, you can tell it's a V6.

If you go with the 50 series the sound isnt as loud but it doesnt ever really sound like a v6 even when you get on it and it can still be heard from 1/4 mile away.

Ya im trying to figure out what is better for my dak also, flowmaster 40 or 50. Is their any major performance difference or is the only difference sound? I was looking at ebay and I saw a flowmaster 40 and a flowmaster super 40. What is the difference???

(flowmaster 40)

(flowmaster super 40)
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...e=STRK:MEWA:IT

(please dont just retype what the sellers have said in their product descriptions)

Does anyone know the real difference from expeirence or know that what the description on the flowmaster super 40 says is true?

ps let me know if those url's dont work.

I havent heard about any power loss but the sound around 3000 on a 40 serias starts to sound like a rice burner and the 50 series on mine doesnt. But it isnt as loud, so you trade volume for a better sound

40 series is their loudest street muffler, the super 40 has the newest version of their "delta flow" technology - basically different baffles that are designed to improve flow and decrease interior resonance (not as boomy inside the truck). The regular 40 Delta Flow apparently is a little bit quieter yet, or maybe doesn't perform as well as the super 40.

If you go to Flowmaster's webiste they've got them listed in order of loudness, with the 40, then super 40, then delta 40 being the top 3, excluding the race mufflers.
