well, ive got BF Goodrich All-Terrain T/A's on my 96 dakota. i think my friends got Goodyear Wrangler AT/S's on his 02 ranger. I've just got the standard 15 inch wheel on my Dakota, and hes got the standard rims for his ranger.
I like the tires, and if you don't wanna get too dirty, they will work good. plus, they don't cost too much (235/75QR15 for my truck would be $105 each from tirerack.com, but the truck came with them in fairly new shape when i bought it)
*i used to live in northern illinois, and visted there a few months ago, and they were pretty good in the snow*

What size rim do you have? I have to agree with the BFG's, but if you are more road than off road, I would recommend the Rugged Trail TA's. They are still an all terrain, but not as aggressive and have a lot more traction on snow and ice. 4x4, you can run up to a 245/70/16 stock without rubbing. If you go to the 245/75/16 you can get a little rub on turns.

I was going to get BFG AT's but all of the guys at Discount said they were running something else. um. yeah. Completely forgot now. Wow. Check back with me tomorrow. At any rate, I was going to get them but the guys at the local discount said they were ALL running something else, and they highly recommended it. So I tried it, seems to work great. The tires seem to be wearing better than my buddy's BFG's too.

Depends on where you're from. These tires you listed are a good tire, but not that good when it comes to snow pack and ice. I run Kuhmo 834 MT's siped on mine right now. First time i've ver bought a non BFG tire. So far, not bad, but still prefer my BFG's. They're a lot more durable.

Another idea you could do imnothot02 is get a set of tires for winter and another for summer. I run MT's during the summer and run Bridgestone Blizzak's during the winter. These are by far the best snow tires I've ever owned.

I drive an '03 Dakota 4x, I just put Pirelli Scorpion A/T's on it. They are 265/70r16's and have no clearance issues at all. I've had 4 Dakota 4x's over the last 10 years, two with over 130,000 miles. Between the four I've used Mud Kings (I think they're made by BFG), Kelly Mud Tracks, BFG All-Terrain T/As, Firestone Wilderness A/Ts, and Bridgestone Dueler A/T Revos. The only tire that could have out performed these Pirelli's in mud and snow were the Mud Kings. I got them on sale for $533 out the door a could not be happier. As a side note the Dueler A/T Revos were the most expensive ($650 for 4 31x10.5r15's) but worst tire I've ever used. If you go to www.tirerack.com you can read 1000's of reviews on any all season or all terrain tire you'd ever want to consider. BTW, I live in NW Missouri right against the State line, I imagine we get very similar weather. I do about 30 percent of my driving off-road so between that, the snow and the rain, I felt the A/T tires are well justified.

I think a lot of you miss understood my first post. The 245/70/16 (29.5" tire) is a optional size tire from the factory on the 2 gen, so there won't be a tire rubbing issue. If you want, you could run a 245/75/16 (30.5" tire), but could get a little tire rub in turns. Hope this clarifies my first podt for ya'll.
