I found that my veacles ran best running a combination of 4oz of Acetone and 4oz of Marvells Mystery oil in the gas. More miles per tankfull and you could barely hear them run. Throttle response improved also. Had a check engine light on my breeze that came on intermittantly before I started using the acetone/marvells mix...aftwards no check engine light. Anyone else expiriment with Acetone or Marvells/Acetone mix?

What exhaust do you guys/gal recommend for the dakotas?
Its all personal preference. I got a Flowmaster 40 on my truck, I love the sound on it. I got a post on here of what it sounds like. Chris1974 has a Magnaflow, its all about the sound that you like or want. If you want to hear the Magnaflow sound, go to their site and hear it. Let us know what you decide to get.

Oh I forogt to add, I get 14-16 in town. And 17-19 Highway. It all depends on how I drive.

the only thing that will help with the mileage is going back to the stock rims and tires or if you really like the way the truck looks, which i do, is to have the axle gear ratio swapped out. going to a different ratio will help getting those tires going. and seeing how you drive mostly city it will increase the mileage. people think that it will waste gas but it dosnt. it puts less tension on the motor making it easier too move. or you can put in a cam kit. my 05 4.7 gets 18/19 around town 20/22 on the highway more if i ride the cruise control

My 2000 Dakota SLT Ext Cab 4x4 gets (on ave) 14 MPG city and 20 MPG highway. I bought the truck used and had Yokohama Geolander H/T truck tires installed to replaced the "knobby" off road Goodyears. They have less road noise, better gas milage, and are excellent in the snow (with 4-wheel engaged). I highly recommend them.

My engine is a 4.7 L V8. No mods. Just keeping up the maintanence. The original writer asked about air intakes etc, different exhausts. Common sense makes me believe that installing these mods would use up more gas in that more fuel will be burned with the increase air consumption.

So what do I do? I drive my truck less, all errands are done at once (one trip to WalMart) and found a job 1 mile from my house that I'll bike to. Gas is $3.46/gal here and I had to use my credit card for the first time.

OK guys here it is fro the oringal LEAD foot. That is your problem IMO I recently started taking my foot out of the gas and slowed down a little my mileage went from 12-14 in the city to 18 in the city and almost 23 on the highway. Its all in how fast you drive keep it under 70 if possible. Dont get me wrong I LOVE TO BURY my foot in it but with gas prices I just cant.....
