i bought flexable hose its like a hose for draining camper septic tanks so i just went around them theres enough space in there if you go under the a/c lines your intake should be even with the bottom half of your grill and line up perfect for taking in air

Before I even saw this post I was thinking of doing the same thing. You got 3mpg out of that huh? I'm impressed do you have a K&N drop in filter or just regular old paper filter?
A little more info and pics would be nice if you've got em. I would like to know how you secured the hose into the air box?

its done kinda ghetto but after i slid the hose into the airbox i just stuck a piece of wire through it so it wouldnt pull back out lol then cut some pieces of rubber and filled the gaps around the hose oh and its just a regular old paper filter

I'M DOING IT TOMORROW! I bet if you used some pvc it would work even better by being less restrictive with all the kinks. I will go into the home depot tomorrow to check it out. I can't wait for the savings on gas and the little boost in power.

Keep an extra filter handy just in case. I am still thinking about that myself but I think that the position it will be in will not allow water straight down the tube. The grill is covering it up pretty good it looks like. I'm gonna see if I can put mine lower than the airbox a little and let gravity take it's course. Other than that maybe make a quick disconnect in the middle or something along those lines.

i havent had a bit of trouble when it rains just dont hit large water holes or you might have a problem just some rain though wont cause any problems if you get too worried though its just a matter of pulling the hose out from between the headlight and radiator and shoving it back in the fender again no big deal if you use flexable tubing

Got it done on Sunday I just haven't spent much time on the site to get back over here. BIG improvement on throttle response and I think I propably got an extra 5 horsies out of her if not a few more. It cost me $40.00 from auto zone I used a 3 inch air tube with a MAF sensor bracket? just to seal up the box. I used black silicone to hold it all in place and seal up the holes pretty ghetto but it's good. I just got rain today and removed my tube from the airbox but left it sticking out of the front and because of the bends in the tubing it looks like the water only made it halfway through so I am good to go on that. I'll post up pics as soon as i find my camera.
