Default Shocks

hey does any 1 have a good recomindation for after market shocks. As stock shocks ride like crap every littel bump in the road is like hitting a speed bump doing 30 lol. I was leaning more to the rancho 5000 series but before i jump in the saddel and buy some new shocks i would like to no if any 1 had good recomidations on the various brands.

Well I don't know how much better you can make the ride on the dak's/d's but I got some bilstein shocks and they provided a big improvement on handling. The ride is always gonna be pretty rough with our trucks though...

I have to agree with Mean Green. Mine still rides pretty rough but handles better and I've got KYB Monomax shocks.

I Put bilsteins on mine and it was night and day difference between the handleing and the ride quality. Not ride softness but ride quality. It did make the truck ride a bit harder but not enough to be annoying. I was also looking at ranchos, but I decided to go with bilsteins because I heard that ranchos were not all that great. Plus I have noticed that all the rancho shocks that I have ever seen installed the body of them rust in no time. I find it quite ugly. Bottom line is that going with the Bilsteins was a very good decision on my part.

I put Rancho RSX on mine.

No rust, but there's somewhat of a clearence issue with the front suspension. Ride is firm, but it's better than stock and it handles better. I've also got overload springs on the rear leaf packs clamped all the way down.

Fronts are a pita - you have to compress them all the way while wrestling them in. Rears aren't bad.

Stupid Dodge and their stupid IFS and torsion bar suspension. Coil sprung solid axle is the way it should have been done, like on the Ram.

My KYB's were $160 off of EBay. And they were new.

Pro-Comp ES 3000, front and rear. Huge improvement over stock, especially keeping rear tires on the ground on bumpy roads/trails. Had a lot of rear wheel hop with stock shocks.
