Transmission will not shift into gears
I just changed the fluid and filters in my 2001 Dodge Dakota Quadcab (4.7) ( AutoTrans) and now it will not shift into any gears at all. I've checked the oil level and it's correct. I had just my truck 2 hours prior to changing the oil. Any advie would be very helful. Thanks
check your tranny fluid levels and pay attention on the dip stick to what gear to be in and if it is running or not. i think you have to check the tranny fluid with the truck running and in nuetral. i cant remember off the top of my head.
yea... make sure its on a nice level surface... truck in neutral... running.... parking brake on to check the fluid... if it isnt going into gear... disconnect the battery overnight.... if that doesnt work.. looks like your off to the stealership to have them to reflash the tcm.... when i first changed the fluid in my dakota.... either when i lay the throttle to the floor off the line... wont shift out of first... eh il live...but on turns now... the trans pump doesnt pick up fluid so if i hold the gas.. she will disengage and the engine will spike and then rengage.... rediclous... imma do a trans fluid change soon anyway... i do it every 25000 miles... its a mopar tranny = garbage... but im a huge mopar fan.. so il deal
mine has this problem to... when i floor it from a stop it will not shift out of 2nd sometimes and somtimes it does shift. Ive checked all fluids and reset the computer, and it still does it. Honestly im not sure whats going on. I was told it could also be a stretched link.. and it just needs to be tighted.

i have that same exact problem with the full throttle, no shift out of first... either the bands need to be adjusted in the transmission.. or the solenoid valve body has to be replaced... that little valve pack controls the gear shifts on auto transmissions... if they get clogged... thier shot.. dont even waste your time cleaning them
