Hey All,

Recently purchased a 2002 Quad Cad with the 4.7L auto with the 3.55. My question is what kind of range are you getting before the Gas Light comes on. Mine comes on religiously at about 200 miles of suburban driving. Not quite city but definintely not highway. Now with a 24 gallon tank as I think comes standard on the Quad Cab when I fill it up I can only cram ~15 gallons into it. Is there really a ~9 gallon reserve built into the gas gauge? I did the gauge calibration check "Key dance" as some may call it. What I get when I watch the needles is that the gas gauge only makes it to about where the light comes on then hits a 1/4 then hits full. Is that right. I believe my last vehicle ,99 Stratus, it was 1/4, 1/2 and Full. All the other needles appear to be normal. Speedo hits 20, 55 and ~ 70. Tach hits 2, 5 and 7 i think. My mileage is a lil lower than I expected but not outrageously low. Hey what can I expect when my last car got about 35 mpg highway.

Thanks for your assistance in advance

I usually get around 200-250 before the light turns on, if it's all just in-town driving. On the highway I'll get 250-300 or so, and my max distance to empty is about 360 miles. I've never run it dry, but I usually get 15-16 on the highway at sane cruise speeds.

Thanks Guys.

Follow-up question how much can you get into the tank when you fill up at the light or not long after? I only get about 15 gals.

I am at about 18 gallons to fill back up when the warning light comes on at 300-375 miles, city vs. hwy.

I never fill mine when the light comes on, usually I wait until I'm pretty low. My typical fill-up is between 20-22 gallons.

last time I filled up, I tried to see how far I could go before it ran out of gas. it took 79 litres. I dont know how much gallons that is but I have a 70 litre tank. so I was pretty empty
