Default Got my '00 Dakota R/T Dyno'd

If you read any of my other posts you all know that when i got the truck it had alot of work done to it. So i had no idea what kind of RWHP or RWT it was making. So i took it down to a Performance shop and got it Dyno'd 3 runs for $60 not bad. I did 2 runs with a hypertech programmer installed. 1st run started in 2nd and got about 260hp 380torque rear. 2nd run they started in 4th and i got 266.6 rwhp and 388.2 rwt, then on the 3rd run i retuned the truck back to stock using the hypertech programmer i had and i got the same results 266.6/388.

at crank im pushing about 340hp, stock about 250. So thats almost 100 more

I was talking to the guy and he said if i got a performance TB i could get it up to 300hp. Anyone have any suggestions on a good TB (Throtle Body) for a 5.9L '00 Dakota R/T?

Also i took vids of the runs but im at work and i cant upload them, ill do it when i get my connection back up at my house should be around the 10th of next month.

Parts so far on the truck.

Flow Pro Dumped Exhuast
M-1 Intake Manafold
Cam/heads/rockers (not sure on brand)
Bigger Fuel Injection System
Headers
Ram Air Hood w/ K&N Filter
180 Thermo
Hypertech Programmed

I don't understand why would you need a performace TB if you as your signature says a "M-1 Intake Manafold "? 2nd all the dyno's I have seen the engine HP was about 20-25% higher than the Rear Wheel Torque how is it yours is backwards?

Dyno test results on 318/360's with M-1 Intake.

Default RE: Got my '00 Dakota R/T Dyno'd

stock r/ts have about 250hp crank and 344torque on what i saw

and mine at crank was 320hp and 388torque

rw was 266.6

the guy at the shop (extreme horsepower) said that if i "replaced" the tb it would put me at around 300rwhp,

when you buy the m-1 the tb sits on top of that, it still looks like its stock, if i have a m-1 why would i have a tb?

Remeber that i didnt install the m-1 the person before me did, this is why i dont like getting a fixed truck. I would rather do all the work myself.

Im going by what the guy told me at the shop.

Also the 360s i know have really HIGH Torque stock that might be why. Alot of people i know said that 344 for a 250 was wrong but if you look anywhere thats the correct numbers.

fastman tb
or hughes engines tb.

Those are nice numbers. 335 lb-ft stock isn't really high, but it's decent. 388 is a much nicer number, but why were they testing in first and second gear? Dyno pulls should be run in 3rd for the 1:1 ratio.

I read from a website somewhere that Dodge had a limited edition modified 2003 Dakota R/T as 2003 is the final year for the 5.9 R/T. The engine was factory modded with all the mopar 5.9 upgrades. M1 intake, 52mm tb, roller rockers and lifters, etc. All these upgrades ran around another $3200 extra on the sticker price and only netted a 50 HP improvement. That's alot of money for just 50 HP. I'll find the link and add it to this message. I threw that link somewhere in this forum or the durango forum.

LiL - Its all in the tuning and parts you choose. I see for the most part in stock V8 trucks more torque then HP. the 4.7l you have is what 200Hp with 250TQ. Also unless the M1 gets rid of it somehow, the TB is a seprate part then the manifold.

Well the only thing on that i dont have is the TB, but i have other parts intsalled and i got almost +100 hp at the crank, are you talking +50hp to the wheels or crank? i didnt click the link its blocked here at best buy.

It kinda makes me sick that all the new cars that come out with stock 500hp 400hp ect.. and all they do is add underdrive pulleys and they get a boost of 75hp its outragous and then i pretty much rebuild the whole damn engine and only gain around 100hp.

Im thinking of changing the 360 and bour it out to a 408 and replace the parts i need to make it a 408 and have a 14psi root charger and see what that does. 450hp+20-30% hp boost... damn that would be nice. But im also not made of gold. lol

The 4.7 puts out closer to 230/295, not sure where you got your numbers.

Stroke it, not bore it. IIRC 408 is a 4.030 x 4.0 (bore x stroke), so .030 overbore to clean up the cyls and a 4" stroker crank. Leave as much meat on the cyl walls as possible for strength.

Keep in mind that ALL factory tunes have to place emissions as a major priority. All of those parts may have only been worth 50hp with a stock cam and stock ECU program, but retuning the ECU and getting a good cam into it would have a dramatic effect on power.

You should do dyno pulls in 3rd gear, not 4th. 3rd is your 1:1 ratio and will give you the most accurate results.
