Default Better traction to the rear end!!!!!!!!

Ok so i got a 2000 Dakota R/T putting about 266/340 to the rear, im about to get a 55mm TB and with my bigger injectors i should get a better air to fuel and raise those numbers to ABOUT 300/380 and i need somthing to help me keep traction off the line, right now if i take off from a dig i sit there for about 3 secs burning rubber, do they have TC for 2k dakotas? Or would wider tires and some 50lb sand bags help any?

Honestly im looking to do anything that will help the traction i already got a heavy *** bed cover over the bed that thing is heavy as **** to. I was thinknig a torque converter? Sandbags? Wider tires? what do you guys think.

Some sticky tires certainly would help. Drag radials or even DOT slicks would be an idea for running at the track when street tires are required.

I race alot of the streets though would either of those be good for normal driving? When i can actually save some money up im going to get a set of strip slicks, and some street i want some wide *** tires that can be used year round that will stick like gum on the bottom of my shoe.

All these pos honda's think they "ALMOST" had me cuz when they take off they go... i sit there and burn for 3 secs and then when i leave 2nd there toast... i just need to be faster off the line.

i hate to be the bearer of bad news but if you think you are going to be getting 34 hp out of a 5mm larger TB and larger injectors, you will be sadly mistaken. i would say about 5-10 hp to the wheel for the TB. also, why are you getting larger injectors? have you gotten an adjustable fuel pressure regulator? just getting larger injectors will not do anything for you. imagine you are holding a garden hose in your hand. when you put your thumb over the end, you raise the PRESSURE, but drop the actual flow in fuel. when you put larger injectors on, it is like working with a lerger hose, but the lower pressure. you would need to get the larger injectors, an adjustable fuel pressure regulator and maybe even a new fuel pump. to actually get any positive numbers from the larger injectors, you would need to crunch some numbers and see what the best combo is for flow and pressure. idealy, you would want to raise your fuel pressure by about 5-15 psi depending on the size injectors/pump/intake manifold and looking at overall air/fuel curves. i wish you the best of luck! let us know how it works out.

first of all i have been to a shop, we did a test and looked at the fuel to air, im running very rich witch means i need better air flow, when i got the truck the larger injection SYSTEM was already installed, but no TB with a good TB it should help my other mods work better, after i get everything done its going to be tuned to be running at the best performance. Right now my focus is to get it out of the rich ping.

i will break this down.

ORIGINAL: User2006

first of all i have been to a shop
first of all, i have worked as both an automotive mechanic, and currently as a superbike mechanic, so i have been to a shop too.

witch is actually spell "which", and yes, a rich reading would indicate that you would need to either increase air in your ratio, or drop fuel.

you are going to have to explain to me and anyone else who is reading this what your "system" is. does that mean you have an aftermarket fuel pump and pressure regulator? because if you dont, your "system" is simply some aftermarket injectors.

a tb that has been designed for your application, in this case a 55mm, will definately help any aftermarket mods you have done and also your overall rear wheel numbers. as far as the pinging, it may not be the air/fuel ratio causing your problem. some causes for pinging are not that obvious and maybe you should check some of them out:

incorrect octane levels, timing too advanced or retarded, coolant temp, or ambient air pressure and temp

lol..i dont know what all that was about. If i came off as cocky then it was not ment that way.

Anyways,

I know the fuel pump is aftermarket and the injectors, as for the PR i dont know. Like i said when i got the truck it had alot of work done to it. Read my sig. Who ever was building this engine did ALOT of work. thats why i want to get in touch with the old owner so i know exactly what he has done. But if the injectors and pump have been replaced im guessing the rest was to. Seeing as the rest of the motor has been re-built.

As for the pinging. Most of that is coverd. I got it programmed at 93octane and i only use 93. I got a 180 thermo so the engine stays cool. All the other should be ok to.

What i ment by ping was the air to fuel gauge. I dont have one but i have hooked one up before just to do some tests.

sorry to post in such an agressive manner, it just came across like you were being a little rude.
