What are the best shocks for a 4.7 00 dakota. It is used the pull a 2400lb trailer everyday for a lawn bussiness and the truck squats in the back very bad... Any suggestions.

If your truck is squatting then you really aren't looking for shocks. All shocks do is dampen the movement of the leaf spirings. The leaf springs are whats allowing your truck to squat so bad. A fix may be getting a "add a leaf" kit. As for shocks, if you still want to upgrade those as well i put bilstiens on my truck and the difference in ride quality and the trucks handling characteristics was night and day.

+1! adding a leaf (or even two) will give you the desired ride height. you can pick the kits up at any repuitable auto parts store or on ebay. as far as shocks, rancho has a series that would go well with your add-a-leaf setup.

Really good read, especially for n00b trailer drivers.

Hell, that should be mandatory for anybody considering towing a trailer.

I agree with kurbycar; If you tow a trailer as part of your business you need a load distributor hitch. As for shocks, I replaced the stockers with KYB Monomaxes on my 4x4 and the difference was amazing. Only problem now is that I can hear my front end popping and creaking with every good-size bump, so new bushings may be necessary.

Before you pop for new bushings, take the old ones out and regrease them if they don't show signs of excessive wear.

Hadn't thought of that. Thanks for the tip. I just assumed that the rubber was shot.
