Default dakota v6

hey, im new here, and i was thinking of picking up a used dakota. it has 100K miles on it, and i was wondering how the v6 engines hold up to high mileages. are there lots of problems w/ them? thanks.

very good engine... lets see... your gonna probabally hear a ticking noise while its running.. all of us here have the same problem.. no cause for concern... the v6 has pretty much not many bolt on mods.. u can get a K&N FIPK for the 5.9L v8 for the dakota.. bolts right on... the 3.9 v6, what your looking at, is the same was the 5.2L v8 and the 5.9L v8. both v8s and v6 are pretty much the same except the v8s of course have 2 more cylinders... otherwise its a great motor...

i have almost 130k on mine and it has never lost a beat. simple preventive maintanence and you will find yourself well over 200k.

My girlfriend's Dad has a Gen 1 Dakota with a 3.9 in it and it has 280,000 miles on it. The tranny finally went bad this summer but other than that he's never had any major problems

I've got a '97 with a 3.9 V6 and 108,000 miles. No problems. Have owned since it was new and have maintained it very well. It's been a great truck.
