Default no second gear?

I recently just got this truck and it will not shift into second gear. Well it worked fine for a bit and then one day I noticed water in the tranmission and now it will not shift into second gear. Every other gear works fine, also today I was Driving and it stalled when I stoped at a stop sign. this was very strange to me. But Either way something it going on and I have the 42re transmission.

you probably need to take it to a shop but in your repair manual theres a section on an external adjustment of the tranny bands, its worth a shot. im assuming that you already replaced all of your tranny fluid..

yes to the rev limiter. take your truck to a shop, if theres water in the tranny system then i wouldnt even attempt to change anything until the fluid has been changed. how do you know theres water in there?

Where would the rev limiter be on my truck, I have already changed the trani fluid, and there was no metal, and no water now but Still no second gear.

I HAD A PROB. OUT OF MY DAKOTA LIKE THAT TO. AND BELEIVE IT OR NOT IT ENDED UP BEING MY PCM GOING BAD. IT BLEW MY MIND WHEN I FOUND OUT THAT THE PCM WOULD CAUSE THE TRANS TO MISS SECOND. WELL GOOD LUCK.

Anyone have an idea what I can do to fix this? or do I have to buy a new PCM? I don't have a manual and I am wondering if anyone knows where the TCM is on a 1997 dakota 3.9.
