something wrong with speedo
I was pulled over the other day, the cop said I was doing 72 mph. I was paying attention to my speeds while driving as I always do because of my CDL licence. I swear I was only doing 65 mph. there was 1 car in front of me in the granny lane and two cars behind me in the granny lane and I was in the passing lane just driving along because the road I was driving on splits off to the left in a couple hundred yards. My question is, is it possible that my speedo is incorrect by 7 mph? My truck is stock with the original factory size and type of tire and the truck only has 30,000 miles on it. I personally feel that the cop clocked the person in front of me in the other lane but went after me because I was in the passing lane but at any rate it has me wondering about my speedo.
if you would have over size tires i could see it being off ,with your CDL's and stuff it may pay you to take it too your dealer and have it calibrated and make sure and if it was off then i guess your screwed but if not ,you can always fight it
tell them your situation and explain you constantly watch your speed because it will cost you your job if caught
maybe they willl turn it into a warning
and IMO he was being a ***** simply because you were only doing 72 in a 65 ,true it is 7mph over but around here they dont even pull out for less then 10 over

Yes its possible. Usualy the error gets worse the faster you go. Tires being low could cause some of it "not that much". A couple miles is normal at 60mph but usually its on the slow side. Easiest way to check is go 60mph on a mile marked highway and see how close to a min it is when you pass the second mile marker. If you pass it before teh min up, you know its running high. But for best accuracy have it calibrated by the dealer.
Nah, I was doing 65 in a 55 and the cop told me I was doing 72. I was making damn sure I wasn't going more than 10 mph over the speed limit. I argued with the cop a little bit and told her there was no way I was doing 72 mph and I told her if I was then it sure as hell wasn't showing 72 on my speedo. She was a state cop and she only wrote me a ticket for failing to obey officially posted speed signing, That cost me $106.50 and no points involved so I cannot argue to much because the ticket for 72 in a 55 would have killed me. I'm lucky it was a state cop because if would have been one of the local boy scout cops they would have added that I was a masked murderer or something. Anyway I know for sure I was not doing over 65 and thats the part that pisses me off. I have to get this corrected before it comes and bites me again. I'll try the mile marker trick today on my way to work.
my truck has 31x10.50's on it and it throws the spedometer off the exact amount yours seems to be wrong because i was doing 65 in a 55 *i knew it was wrong but i was in a hurry lol* and he clocked me doing 73 18 mph over the posted speedlimit. It didnt go on my licence and my insurance didnt go up because i did 18 hours comunity service wrote an 18 page traffic safety report and had 6 months probation. I didnt have to pay the fine and no points were involved.

Thats messed up! I have an 01 2wd and the size of tires I have are 215/75/15 and thats the stock size also. Who knows. I did however do the mile marker thing this morning and it turned out pretty good. A mile a minute give or take a second or two. I just dont want to take any chances ya know. With all these new friggin laws they have now with your personal vehicle can go towards getting my cdl and hazmat taken away. It sucks. Not only that but 1.5 beers here in pa and I'm officialy drunk driving.
were u on 80?.. cause normally i do 75-80 on route 80 between 380 and the gap.. passed alot of cops and they never pulled out for me.. hmm weird... its fun driving on 80 in jersey.. thats where the real bear caves are
