I think the idea is that the sensor is closer to the open air, so it should read colder, which for the trouble I doubt the readings would be that far apart. I have heard people say this and that about this mod, but I for one don't go fooling sensors to make 2 more HP and possibly hurt my motor. I don't know if this would be to the extreme of hurting the motor, but its the same idea behind all those 20+ HP chips on ebay going to 2 bucks, which can really cause some damage.

u can custom make your own intake using the stock box. there was a thread here a couple months ago about it. and how we brought the air in makes me think its better than the k&n set up cause its drawing air from just inside the grill. more fun on the highway.

i relocated my iat sensor on my 05 4.7 dak. this mod gets the sensor away from the engine heat and closer to the air filter which will pick up cooler air. by doing this the sensor will adjust your air fuel mixture closer to the 14.7 ratio it is suppose to be.the engine heat meeses with the sensor throwing the reading off. there is a power wire out on the web for 20.00, this is junk. it only tricks the pcm into thinking there is cooler air when there is not, by doing the iat mod the sensor still funtions properly my constantly checking the peramiters, also installing a 180 thermostat helps this mod out a great deal. and for 2.50 cents you cant beat it. simply go to the hardware store and pick up 2 feet of 16 guage wire one foot of white and one of blk, that way you can tell which goes where when you snip the sensor off. connect the wires to the sensor making it a foot longer and than take a drill and drill out a hole farther down the tube and reinsert the sensor. they make plastic plugs for the hole that was there form the factory, here is my k/n done up with the mod. this is were the iat sensor was in the intake tube

Well I am thinking if you buy a good CAI it was designed to function at peek with the sensor in the stock location seeing that the install instructions tell you to install it in the new intake tube in the place they put the hole.....but that is just my thinking.
